    Overview

    BDO Canada is currently seeking an experienced Global Mobility Specialist to join our growing HR team. The successful incumbent will be responsible for the design, development, implementation and communication of innovative global mobility plans, programs, solutions, and policies. The ideal candidate has a pulse on emerging markets and practices, and is considered an industry thought leader with contacts across the industry. This opportunity will allow you to provide expertise and leadership for all mobility processes, ensuring BDO Canada’s programs meet business needs and regulatory requirements.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Participate in the design and administration of BDO’s global mobility strategy within the HR team, managing relationships with the applicable third party vendors and internal service providers
    • Assess current mobility programs, practices, and policies alongside the market and market trends
    • Work with internal and external stakeholders to continuously improve mobility programs, processes, team capabilities, and metrics
    • Identify efficiencies, recommend strategies, and ensure alignment between the relocation, tax, and immigration programs
    • Serve as a primary point of contact for employees, managers, HR, Legal, Finance, and Payroll for mobility (immigration / relocation / taxation) issues; identify when to escalate issues and coordinate with relevant group
    • Identify and coordinate
    • Coordinate due-diligence processes with internal partners (tax, immigration, payroll, HR) and third party vendors (relocation), including cost projection calculations
    • Oversee and organize initiations, documentation collection, and tracking of each assignee’s relocation process throughout the life-cycle
    • Act as the main point of contact for key vendors, ensuring SLAs are maintained and regularly reviewing processes to ensure optimal employee experience and in the best interest of the business
    • Design and develop processes and tools to effectively manage mobile employees
    • Develop creative alternatives and solutions to complex problems
    • Monitor legislative changes and update plans and documents accordingly
    • Assist with voluntary or government-driven audits to ensure regulatory compliance
    • Track and monitor milestones and critical dates, communicating with relevant stakeholders and service providers
    • Handle highly confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion

     

    Qualifications

    • Industry designation including CERP, CGMP, or equivalent;
    • 3-5 years’ experience in a global mobility role, preferably in a professional services environment
    • Experience coordinating Canadian inbound and outbound moves
    • Demonstrated knowledge of emerging global markets and market trends
    • Analytical approach, with strong problem solving and negotiation skills
    • Excellent business judgment and ability to move and evolve with the fast-changing needs of the company
    • Proven ability to deal with ambiguity
    • Work well under pressure to meet deadlines within short time constraints whilst maintaining the utmost attention to detail
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Experience working with immigration and expat tax professionals
    • General understanding of common immigration and tax issues that arise from the international movement of workers
    • General understanding of compliance requirements in Canada and in source/destination country from immigration and tax perspective
    • General curiosity and willingness to learn about tax and immigration matters, while acting diligently on guidance from advisors in an effort to minimize risk for the firm
    • Experience and comfort in working in a matrix environment, across multiple geographies and cultures
    • Experience collaborating with key internal stakeholders and resources, as well as with third-party vendors
