    BDO’s Financial Advisory Services practice is growing!  In our Barrie office, we are currently recruiting for a Financial Analyst, Valuations.  The successful candidate will be a university graduate with a degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, Science or Math who is willing to pursue their CBV designation.  Support will also be provided to those working towards becoming a Chartered Professional Accountant.


    Our role in the FAS group is to provide Business Valuation, Litigation Support, M&A, Forensic, and Damage Quantification services to internal and external clients across Central Ontario.  


    Summary of Position


    The Valuations Analyst will play an active role in supporting management in business valuation and related mandates.  This includes valuations prepared in the context of litigation support (including divorce), M&A, tax, shareholder disputes and general corporate purposes.


    The candidate will report to the Barrie Valuation Practice Leader and other managers in the Valuations practice.

    Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:


    Play an active role in carrying out business valuation mandates, in particular:


    • Take part in discussions and meetings with the management of the companies involved.
    • With the team's support, analyze company and industry-specific strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats with a view to determining the cash flow risks of the companies involved.
    • With the team's support, participate in the modeling used for the valuation.
    • With the team's support, draft detailed valuation reports and presentations to management.
    • Develop relationships with BDO's current and prospective clients.
    • Provide ongoing communication with the Valuations partner and managers concerning file execution and service area development initiatives.
    • Develop an understanding of the business development activities required to support this type of practice (for future career development).


    Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge:


    • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, Science, Math or other related field
    • Must be willing to pursue a CBV designation. Preference also given to those pursing a CPA designation
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Detail oriented
    • Solid verbal and written communication skills
    • Proficiency in Excel
    • Public accounting experience considered an asset
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
    • Ability to work efficiently
    • Interest in business development
