    Overview

    BDO’s National Content and Brand Team is hiring a Content Marketing Writer to join an in-house team of content marketers. In this role, you will be supporting the marketing activities of our Central Canada Marketing Group. The Content Marketing Writer will produce a variety of high-quality written content related to the firm’s services. This will include, but not be limited to, whitepapers, articles, blogs, brochures, marketing assets, video scripts, web copy, presentations, and other written materials. Our ideal team member will be an exceptional writer with a journalism background who possesses a strong understanding of content marketing best practices and emerging trends. Candidates selected for an interview will be asked to provide a portfolio of related work.

     

    Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities 

     

    • Create a variety of engaging content, including articles, whitepapers, blogs, social content, brochures, marketing assets, video scripts, web copy, ads, infographics, webinars, videos, presentations, and other types of content
    • Work closely with the firm’s thought leaders and other marketing team members to develop content, including defining content needs, identifying topics of interest, conducting research and interviewing subject matter experts to gather source material, and assessing relevance of information collected
    • Interpret technical information and translate into content that is accessible to a business audience while maintaining accuracy
    • Investigate, monitor and stay informed on topics and current business issues related to the firm’s services and clients, and present new content ideas or refresh content in response to the market
    • Contribute to the content ideation process, content pitches and editorial calendar
    • Support the development and refinement of content themes, personas, path to purchase, and content distribution strategy
    • Work with external service providers such as agencies and ghost writers
    • Serve as an editor to ensure consistent tone and voice across content
    • Review content KPIs and develop recommendations for improvements
    • Enforce the international BDO network’s corporate visual identity standards, including consistency of look and feel in design and writing styles

     

     

    Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge

     

    • University degree in journalism, communications, marketing or a related field
    • 5-7 years of related experience, including hands on experience in content creation in a B2B environment (background in professional services industry is considered an asset)
    • Exceptional writing, proofreading and editing skills
    • Experience developing a variety of content
    • Ability to create content in a fast-paced environment to respond to changes in the market
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with multiple levels of the organization, including presenting content recommendations
    • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Strong knowledge of content marketing principles and related areas such as search engine optimization, writing for the web, and social media
    • Reliable business judgement and problem-solving skills
    • Effective time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
    • Excellent interpersonal and client-focused skills – interacts well with all levels of staff and partners with a positive and enthusiastic attitude
    • Self-starter, motivated and with ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
    • Strong ability to collaborate and work effectively as part of team
