    Position Summary

    We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our Internal Finance Team as a Business Analyst at our National office in downtown Toronto.  As BDO continues to grow and expand the firm’s service offerings, this is an exciting time to join our team.  The successful candidate will work collaboratively to develop deep insights about the firm and the professional services industry to provide proactive actionable analysis for decision-making. 

     

    Reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Analysis this newly created role will be a key member in the next generation of business planning, analysis, dashboarding, and scorecards, which will be used across all service lines to help plan, forecast, and analyze the business. 

     

    The role will support the Finance and Operation teams through report creation, maintenance, delivery, and identifying requirements.  In addition, the role will maintain financial aspects of the Firm’s new ERP (Workday) including; GL accounts, managing system hierarchies, financial posting rules, workflows, etc.

     

     

    Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

    • Report writing and maintenance
    • Dashboards and scorecards
    • ERP (Workday) financial maintenance
    • Create, update, and maintain financial models to assist with financial analysis
    • Prepare and/or build reports on a scheduled and ad-hoc basis
    • Assist in preparation of advanced financial models for the annual budget/business plan
    • Monitor financial results versus budget /forecast, examine variances, identify trends, and provide insightful analysis 
    • Identify and monitor key metrics of the business
    • Support preparation of management discussion and analysis for Executive Leadership Team
    • Contribute to the monthly reporting package for Management Team
    • Assist with monthly/quarterly forecasting & pipeline

     

    Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge

    • Bachelor's Degree, ideally within Finance/Accounting or related
    • A completed MBA or Accounting designation are preferred
    • 4+ years related experience
    • Well-developed financial acumen and analytical skills
    • Advanced report writing and data mining with experience analyzing large data sets
    • Excellent financial analysis and modelling skills
    • Advanced MS Excel & ERP system skills
    • Experience with Workday ERP is a plus
    • Experience with Sharepoint
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) with ability to present findings in a clear, concise and compelling manner
    • Ability to work collaboratively within the Finance team and cross-functionally
    • Experience within the professional services industry is a plus
