    Position Summary

    BDO’s National Office has an immediate opening in our Internal Accounting department for a Payroll Administrator. Please note that this is a 12-month contract opportunity. BDO Canada LLP's National Office is located in Toronto Ontario. We are close to public transportation including the TTC and Union Station. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible to oversee the day-to-day payroll function, ensuring that the semi-monthly payroll is prepared and processed, all payroll tickets are processed, accounting procedures are completed and that audit requirements are met.


    Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

    • Calculate and process new hire/terminated employee information, and process Record of Employments (ROEs) as required
    • Remain up to date with any legislative changes affecting the payroll function
    • Assist with other payroll accounting functions, including monthly/quarterly/annual reconciliation of payroll accounts and annual regulatory filing on a timely basis
    • Prepare semi-monthly payroll for salaried and hourly employees through Workday Payroll Software and Assistme (ServiceNow) ticketing system

    • Ability  to follow instructions and directions to complete assigned tasks
    • Provide clear and timely communication to all employees regarding payroll policies and procedures, updates, deadlines, and special requests etc
    • Assist with mid-year and year-end T4/ R1 reconciliation
    • Other responsibilities as they may arise
    • Assist with the preparation of WCB, CRA, MRQ, EHT, MHET remittances

    Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge:

    • University/College graduate in a related field
    • PCP certificate is considered an asset
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a payroll administrator in a medium sized company, with multiple locations or other provinces/territories in Canada
    • Thorough knowledge of Canadian (federal,  provincial, municipal) employment and payroll related legislation in particular Employment Standards
    • Strong communication skills – written and spoken, listening skills
    • Workday software experience is considered an asset
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
    • Understanding of basic accounting principles and procedures
    • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast paced, change environment
    • Professional, tactful and diplomatic in dealing with staff at all levels within the firm
    • Demonstrated prioritization, organization, time management, planning and follow-up skills
