    Position Summary


    The Kelowna office of BDO Canada LLP is seeking a full-time Bookkeeper to join our rapidly growing Outsourcing team. The successful candidate is responsible for providing bookkeeping and accounting services to our clients. Candidates must be adaptable to the multiple demands of the position and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. Our clients include businesses of various sizes in agriculture, hospitality, manufacturing, construction, insurance, the non-profit sector and municipal government. We also service many small businesses and self-employed professionals.

    Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

    • Processes daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly financial transactions into Microsoft NAV accounting software.
    • Completes bank reconciliations, bookkeeping assignments and other routine account analysis following established procedures.
    • Prepares and organizes any relevant working papers/documentation for standard bookkeeping engagements.
    • Prepares GST/HST, PST and QST filings
    • Prepares payroll taxation filings as required (WSIB, WCB, other)
    • Keeps Manager informed on status of files and issues as required
    • Receives/reviews client documents
    • Prepares documentation for more complex bookkeeping engagements
      Mentors and assists to develop the skills and capabilities of less experienced staff

    Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge

    • 1-3 years of experience of hands-on, bookkeeping and/or accounting experience
    • Completion of high school diploma and in pursuit of, or have completed, post-secondary diploma or certificate in Accounting or Business
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office computer programs (Outlook, Excel and Word)
      Previous experience working with Microsoft NAV software considered an asset
    • High attention to detail
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
    • Ability to prioritize workloads, manage multiple tasks and deadlines
    • Previous experience working in a public accounting firm is considered a strong asset
