Payroll Client Services Specialist – Guelph Office

Our Solutions Payroll, Bookkeeping and CFO Services team frees businesses from the day-to-day burden of financial and payroll accounting and financial reporting by offering a highly automated all-inclusive service with business information available anytime, anywhere. The practice area is growing rapidly, with both small and medium clients, and as a result, we have an immediate opening at our Guelph office for a detail-oriented Client Services Specialist to join our team.

 

The successful candidate is responsible for making and building relationships with our clients, prospects and partners. Candidates must be adaptable to the multiple demands of the position and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. Our clients include businesses of various sizes in agriculture, hospitality, manufacturing, construction, insurance, the non-profit sector and municipal government. We also service many small businesses and self-employed professionals. Ideally, we are seeking a candidate who has been in a Payroll Technician role and wants to take the next step in their career.

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Work with partners/senior managers around the region to get information required for outsourcing prospects
  • Dig into client’s current records to figure out transaction volumes for quoting purposes
  • Provide technical knowledge when meeting with prospects
  • Prepare client quotes
  • Prepare client proposals and present to clients/partners
  • Work with outsourcing staff to get information from new clients in order to on-board them into our system in a timely manner
  • Thorough review of accounting and bookkeeping assignments to ensure professional standards are met and figure out what is needed in new engagements
  • Assist in the development and delivery of practical business advice for clients
  • Ensure staff and clients understand client’s requests, deadlines etc.
  • Effective communication with clients, partners and staff
  • Occasional travel to various BDO offices or client locations is required
  • Occasional presentation of proposals to larger clients or partner/manager groups about our services

Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge

  • A minimum of 3+ years of progressive payroll experience
  • Working accounting knowledge of multiple industries is required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Developed oral and written communication skills
  • Strong ability to prioritize workload
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Power Point and various payroll/accounting software programs
  • Strong leadership abilities is considered an asset
