Microsoft Dynamics Technical Solutions Team Manager

 

Position Summary

 

BDO Canada LLP is currently in the process of recruiting a Technical Manager to join its Dynamics team.

 

The Technical Manager will be responsible for managing as well as performing all technical activities during the full lifecycle of a Dynamics GP, Key2Act and BI implementations. This includes pre-sales, solution engineering, project estimation, business requirement analysis, infrastructure requirements, solution implementation, functional design, technical design and on-going technical project activities.

 

In addition, the Technical Manager will also be responsible for managing a group of 2-4 technical consultants who may be working on several different project teams. This person will have a strong knowledge of both the functional and technical aspects of Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 R2, related 3rd party and web applications as well as experience managing a technical team.

 

This role will coordinate scheduling for the technical team, help manage clients and upgrade projects and provide regular support as part of the technical team as it relates to the Microsoft Dynamics GP, Key2Act and BI (Prophix, Power BI and Jet) solutions. This role will be client facing with various client sites throughout Ontario. Out of province / country, travel may also be required.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Managing of technical resources, including scheduling, assignment of client support issues, providing regular day to day and career coaching, assist with maximizing the utilization of the technical team, and liaise between the Technical, Application and Development teams, and liaise with the D365/CRM Technology Manager for shared resourcing.
  • Work with direct reports to build performance plans.
  • Conduct yearly reviews of performance plans with direct reports.
  • Works closely with the Project Manager to ensure that all deadlines related to technical aspects of implementations are either met or exceeded.
  • Assist with pre-sales activities.
  • Support the execution of data migrations for Dynamics GP / Key2Act using MS SQL tools, eConnect and other technologies.
  • Document customer environment specifications.
  • Communicate Dynamics implementation environment methodology.
  • Project Manage Dynamics GP upgrade projects.
  • Technical Planning and Scoping of engagements, including providing client guidance on hardware sizing and recommended technical specifications for each installation.
  • Provide client support and consultation regarding technical issues that arise within a client’s environment.
  • Jointly manage payroll tax table update scheduling twice per year, nationally for all of our Payroll clients (July and December).
  • Assist with regional growth activities.
  • When required, perform installation of SQL, Dynamics GP, Key2Act, Management Reporter Prophix, Targit, Jet and related applications.

Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge

  • University Degree or College Diploma in technology or business is desirable.
  • The following certifications are desirable:
    • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate
    • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) – Azure Cloud Platform and Infrastructure
    • Certified Business Management Solutions Specialist – Microsoft Dynamics GP Installation and Configuration
  • Practical experience in any or all of the following would be desirable:
    • Dynamics GP (web and desktop client) and related Add-on’s
    • Deploying Dynamics GP in Azure or private cloud
    • Management Reporter
    • SharePoint
    • MS SQL Server
    • eConnect / SmartConnect
  • Minimum of 5 years management experience with proven track record for effectively managing a team.
  • Previous consulting experience is preferred.
