    Position Summary

      

    BDO Canada's National Office has an opportunity in their Assurance & Accounting department for a Manager/Senior Manager of Assurance.

     

    Reporting to the National Assurance Standards Partner, the Manager/Senior Manager of Assurance is responsible for providing guidance, training and practice tools to staff in local offices, enabling them to conduct engagements efficiently, effectively and in accordance with relevant standards and Firm requirements.

     

     

    Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

     

    The role is working in a team environment, offering opportunities for team work and individual projects. Within the team, you will be assisting in the following areas:

    • Researching technical matters and projects by utilizing the technical resources available
    • Providing  technical guidance to assurance consultations and questions from offices / staff in a timely manner
    • Developing assurance publications for internal and external distribution
    • Providing annual updates of our audit tools, audit, review, compilation, and other CaseWare templates, and the BDO Audit Manual
    • Developing Firm policies relating to assurance engagements 
    • Designing and delivering effective assurance training programs for Partners and staff, including live instructor-led training, web-based training, and virtual instructor-led training

     

    Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge 

    • A CPA, CA designation (or other similar professional designation, e.g. CPA, CGA / CPA, CMA, etc.)
    • Proficient knowledge of assurance standards in Canada
    • Minimum 5 years (post designation) of assurance experience in a public accounting firm
    • Canadian auditing experience at a Manager/Senior Manager level
    • Experience in delivering training and presentations, including development of relevant materials
    • Effective time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
    • Possess a basic understanding of other standards, policies and procedures that interact with auditing, including accounting, risk management, independence, tax, etc.
