BDO IT Solutions (BDO ITS) is the technology advisory practice within BDO Canada LLP’s portfolio of professional services, focusing on the midmarket segment of the Canadian geography. While our team can address the business and technology needs of all organizations across the country, our primary focus is on the Energy & Natural Resources, Manufacturing & Distribution, Financial Services, Retail and Not-For-Profit industries. The BDO ITS practice has set some very aggressive growth targets through 2020 and the addition of this role to the team directly complements the desire to achieve those targets.

 

Position Description

 

Based in either Calgary, Toronto or Vancouver, the role of Senior Manager/Manager, Technology Advisory Services (TAS), will be a key contributor to BDO ITS’ go-to-market strategy, leading key advisory engagements within both new and existing client environments across all of BDO’s targeted industry sectors. Over the past decade, BDO ITS has established an impressive track record of delivering practical technology advice to our clients, maintaining an absolute focus on aligning business objectives with tangible IT strategies. Continuing in 2018 and beyond, the TAS practice will continue to work closely with BDO ITS industry and technology experts (Partners, Senior Managers, etc.) while delivering advisory-centric engagements focused on technology assessments, roadmaps and strategies as well as cloud, security and data & information strategies.

 

Partnering with our valued clients, every member of our TAS team establishes long-term working relationships while providing sound advice to help organizations maximize the return on their investments in technology. TAS members have proven skills in structuring and leading sophisticated advisory engagements, significant exposure to complex business operations and wide-ranging exposure to both legacy and modern information technologies.

 

As a member of the rapidly expanding TAS team, you will report directly to the BDO Partner in charge of strategy & market development while receiving operational guidance from the Senior Manager, Technology Advisory Services (TAS).

 

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Identification and documentation of complex client requirements.
  • Preparation and presentation of comprehensive technical solutions to non-technical audiences.
  • Leveraging your business and technology knowledge and experience to architect short and long-term sustainable technology initiatives for our clients.
  • Prioritization and balancing of multiple tasks including leading consulting engagements, researching and analyzing client business and technology requirements, leveraging the BDO ITS team’s problem-solving capacity and, communicating effectively in written and verbal formats to varied audiences in a professional business environment.
  • Delivery of clear requests for information and/or requirements, both internally and with our clients.
  • Demonstrating the capacity to prioritize and complete tasks as well as the ability to communicate potential conflicts to team members.
  • Collaboration with and contribution to your peers while developing strong working relationships; Regular interfacing with all groups within BDO ITS including project managers and technology and industry team members.
  • Leading and participating in multiple concurrent projects.

Experience, Education & Professional Skills/Knowledge

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related field.
  • Familiarity with multiple back office technology suites, including ERP, BI and Cloud-centric solutions (experience with Microsoft back office technologies such as Dynamics and Azure is preferred)
  • Ability to provide guidance on technology strategy, architecture, governance & systems.
  • Ability to advise clients on emerging technologies and strategies consistent with their business strategies.
  • Ability to develop technology and implementation roadmaps that align technology investments with key business priorities, all while accounting for critical risks.
  • Ability to foresee and identify solution related risks, provide options and recommendations to addressing these risks to the project leadership.
  • Experience conducting application and information management maturity and/or needs assessments, identifying and prioritizing opportunities/projects, and developing technology roadmaps and estimates.
  • Experience with the architecture, design and development of technology solutions for the midmarket and enterprise segments on the Canadian landscape.
