    Position Summary

    The Montreal downtown office of BDO Canada LLP is actively seeking for a Translator (mainly English to French). The applicant will translate documents covering many activities and industries in a stimulating environment. We are seeking individuals that have demonstrated abilities to work within a confidential environment, are flexible and adaptable to the multiple requirements of the role, and are comfortable working independently and in a collaborative environment. This is a permanent full-time opportunity, but candidates looking for a flexible work arrangement will also be considered.


    Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

    • Translate and review various accounting and assurance documents
    • Translate and review various Tax publications and Advisory reports
    • Translate and review proposals as well as documents for the different internal departments such as Marketing, Human Resources, Payroll, etc.
    • Provide linguistic advice
    • Perform terminology research
    • Obtain and understanding of firm methodology and terminology to ensure proper and consistent translation
    • Assist with special projects and complete other ad hoc duties as assigned
    • Coordinate, translate, review and prioritize client projects

    Education, Abilities and Professional Knowledge

    • Bachelor’s degree in translation
    • Hands-on experience in translation (minimum 5 years), experience in accounting and financials an asset
    • Experience in terminology and editing
    • Ability to manage projects
    • Proficiency in machine-assisted translation software (CAT)and terminology data banks
    • Must be fluently bilingual (French and English - written and spoken)
    • Knowledge in accounting and audit terminology currently used in the profession and used by CPA Canada
    • Creative problem solving skills
    • Teamwork and client-oriented professional
    • Deadline and detail-oriented, with the ability to work independently
    • Member of OTTIAQ, an asset
