BDO Canada LLP’s Advisory Services Consulting group is a rapidly growing practice which combines proven auditing and risk management processes, methodologies and technology with seasoned professionals with industry experience. We are currently seeking an experienced Manager, IT Consulting to join our Atlantic Canada Practice. The Manager, IT Consulting will act as a key member of the Practice, with responsibilities including building a client-facing project team from the ground up, leading business development efforts to gain new clients across Atlantic Canada, and managing full-lifecycle project delivery to a high level of quality and client satisfaction. The Manager, IT Consulting will use BDOs’ implementation methodology, ensuring the delivery of solutions capable of achieving the agreed and defined business requirements and entered agreements in a profitable manner.


Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Leads business development activities for Atlantic Canada including identifying potential clients, devising business development strategies, consulting with clients, proposing technology solutions and closing business
  • Develops and implements practice growth strategies including interviewing, hiring and training new staff members
  • Provides project management leadership for full implementation, upgrade or major enhancement projects
  • Reviews Key Deliverables to assure scope and budget remain aligned
  • Reviews and understands the contractual terms and scope of assigned projects
  • Ensures that BDO project governance framework is applied to projects
  • Ensures that project governance documentation is maintained, published and stored according to BDO Quality Audit standards
  • Ensures that the BDO Project Team follows BDO Methodology and is producing deliverables to standards and on schedule
  • Acts as client advocate
  • Participates in resource planning with other PMs
  • Provides input to BDO PMO for ongoing refinement of BDO Project Governance, Implementation Methodology, contracts and templates
  • Training of client staff to perform day-to-day activities in support of implementations
  • Mentoring colleagues and providing support and guidance.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and working on high-performing teams
  • Must be goal oriented, results driven and client focused

Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge:

  • Minimum of 8 years project management experience in technology sector
  • Previous business development experience
  • Experience building new teams including identifying, interviewing, hiring and training new staff members
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant business discipline (Business, Engineering or Computer Science preferred)
  • Knowledge of IT governance structures and architecture
  • Knowledge of IT cost structures
  • PMP designation desirable
  • Thorough knowledge of all major technology project management activities
  • Ability to align project deliverables and customer expectations
  • Coaching and/or mentoring experience
  • Exceptional presentation skills for internal/external purposes
  • Ability to thrive in a virtual, collaborative organization and atmosphere
  • Effective time management skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to listen and effectively communicate orally and in writing with clients and colleagues.
