Position Summary

 

BDO’s Financial Recovery Services (FRS) practice has established a reputation for uncompromising commitment to service, quality and results. Our financial recovery specialists provide creative, constructive, and cost-effective solutions for troubled companies and individuals. Our professionals combine their business management, analytical and insolvency skills with hands-on industry experience to ensure our clients receive consistent and personalized service.

 

Our FRS practice in Edmonton is currently looking for a Receptionist to be responsible for maintenance of all areas of reception, specifically greeting clients and operating the switchboard.  Coupled with their excellent customer service skills, the Receptionist will have previous experience in a similar role, will have a professional profile and will have the ability to work flexible hours as needed.

 

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming telephone calls (two lines at reception)
  • Answer general questions and/or direct calls to appropriate staff members
  • Look up data and provide information (verbally or in writing as required) from Ascend
  • Retrieve of messages from voice mail
  • Assist clients at reception, including greet clients, create receipts (collect cash payments and cheques), provide requested information, etc.
  • Make appointments for staff/clients in Microsoft Outlook
  • Prepare outgoing courier items and arrange for pick-up
  • Distribute incoming correspondence or messages
  • Send faxes and distribute incoming faxes
  • Request files from off-site storage area
  • In response to requests, issue applications/booklets/covering letter (hard copies/email/fax)
  • Prepare letters/emails/phone calls to debtors confirming appointments and/or requesting documents
  • Record data in Ascend and Excel databases
  • Prepare standard forms, notices, and letters in Ascend and Microsoft Word
  • Monitor incoming email folders and respond to or distribute as appropriate
  • Open and distribute incoming mail
  • Post outgoing mail
  • File correspondence
  • Fill and empty the dishwasher and clean the kitchen area
  • Order office supplies

 

 Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge

  • Minimum two years experience in a professional reception role with a multi-line switchboard and general administrative duties
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe
  • Experience using Ascend (Insolvency program) considered an asset
  • Support the Vision of the Firm by ensuring the demonstration of our BDO Values and Expectations
  • Flexibility: standard work hours for this role are Monday to Friday, 8:30-5:00. Overtime is occasionally required.
