Senior Business Development Executive - BDO IT Solutions, Energy & Natural Resources (Western Canada)

 

Position Summary:

BDO IT Solutions is the technology advisory practice within BDO Canada LLP’s portfolio of professional services, focusing on the midmarket segment of the Canadian geography. While our team can address the business and technology needs of all organizations across the country, our primary focus is on the Energy & Natural Resources, Manufacturing & Distribution, Financial Services, Retail and Not-For-Profit industries. The BDO IT Solutions practice has set some very aggressive growth targets through 2020 and the addition of this role to the team directly complements the desire to achieve those targets.

 

Likely based in Vancouver or Calgary, the role of Senior Business Development Executive (SBDE) is a central contributor to BDO IT Solutions pursuit of profitable revenue from new and existing clients within the Energy & Natural Resources industry in Western Canada. BDO ITS has recently expanded the mandate of all Business Development team members to include the representation of the entire BDO IT Solutions technology portfolio, including the Microsoft-centric suite of Integrated Business Solutions (i.e. ERP, CRM, etc.), Data & Analytics (i.e. BI, Predictive Analytics, etc.) and Corporate Productivity Solutions (i.e. O365, SharePoint, etc.).

 

All members of BDO IT Solutions Business Development team take an advisory approach with our prospects and clients, striving to understand their unique requirements before providing recommendations related to the evaluation, justification and implementation of the technology solutions that will best serve those needs. Similarly, all members of the Business Development team work closely with the industry and technology experts (Partners, Senior Managers, etc.) that are significant contributors to the deployment of BDO IT Solutions client engagement model.

 

The SBDE (West) reports to the BDO Partner leading the national Energy & Natural Resources practice and contributes significantly to the larger business development organization across the country.  

 

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Drive the profitable revenue needed to meet and exceed the annual targets assigned by BDO IT Solutions leadership team.
  • Display credible knowledge of the Energy & Natural Resources industry, including the Oil & Gas, Mining & Utilities subsectors.
  • Seeking to become the strategic advisor of choice, engage organizations early with BDO’s technology advisory services portfolio.
  • Continue to extend a proficient level of expertise with all technologies within the BDO IT Solutions technology solutions portfolio.
  • Manage the complete sales cycle associated with all client opportunities applicable to the BDE mandate.
  • Leverage and coordinate BDO IT Solutions senior industry and technology resources within every sales cycle.

 

Experience, Education & Professional Skills/Knowledge:

  • 10+ years of proven business development experience within the IT industry, preferably in Alberta or BC.
  • Verifiable track record of success meeting and exceeding annual targets in excess of $3M.
  • Knowledge of the Energy & Natural Resources industry, especially the Oil & Gas, Mining and Utilities subsectors.
  • University Degree or College Diploma in relevant discipline; BComm, BSci or similar.
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft back office technology suite, including BI, ERP and Cloud-centric solutions.
